The Salem Media Group of Washington DC is seeking a person who will work with local businesses to develop marketing campaigns and oversee the execution of multi-faceted campaigns using online, social media, broadcasting and other cutting edge media.

Board Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Salem Media Group is the leading U. S. radio broadcaster targeting audiences interested in conservative NewsTalk and Christian and family-themed programming. We currently have part-time and full-time positions available at WAVA/Family Talk/WRC Radio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must operate standard broadcast console, including “faders” or “pots.”
Protect the company’s F-C-C license, successfully execute E-A-S tests, log transmitter readings, raise and lower power and follow regulations 
and policies under the direction of the Chief Operator.
Able to read and follow program log, play programs, spots and station identification’s for multiple stations.
Ability to perform commercial and show production.
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED
Prior experience in running an audio console at a commercial or non-commercial radio station necessary.
Experience in a similar format/formats preferred.
Experience with digital audio and digital editing systems.
Computer proficiency and ability to use Windows and Linux-based systems and programs.
Experience working with broadcast automation systems.
Able to work regular weekend and/or overnight shifts.
Must have legal right to work in the United States.

Ability to interact and work well with other staff.
Must be dependable and able to work and problem-solve independently.
Must be able to pay attention to details and be organized.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Digital Audience Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary duties of this person will be sales focused with accountabilities in both digital and broadcast areas. In addition to developing clients, this person will also be responsible for assisting other Marketing Strategists achieve their digital sales budgets.

Secondary responsibilities include keeping local digital assets fresh, compelling and representative of on-air content and station brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary duties of this person will be sales focused in all digital areas. In addition to developing his/her own list of clients that may utilize both digital and broadcast assets, this person will be responsible for assisting other Marketing Strategist’s achieve their digital sales budgets.

Ability to audit client marketing presence and identify strengths and weaknesses & how to improve (website, Google, etc.) - provide a needs analysis.
Conduct compelling presentations to sell client solutions based on audit/analysis.
Provide sales support for all sales staff as it relates to Digital efforts. This includes sharing knowledge of and training on all Digital assets, creating sales packages, providing analytics and brainstorming.
Attending sales calls with other team members each week.
Deliver weekly digital training and lead brainstorming sessions for digital ideas in sales meetings
Help Marketing Strategist’s integrate digital assets into the fabric of broadcast radio-centric asks
Help cultivate specs for digital presentations and local digital case studies
Stay current with emerging digital opportunities
Conduct quarterly “Lunch and Learn” meetings with clients.
Help Marketing Strategist’s with workflow and campaign execution and coordination with any/all 3rd party vendors.
Attend monthly corporate online meeting or conference call focusing on sales opportunities and success stories. From time to time, you will be asked to share efforts from your market.
Work with station Programming and Promotion staff to make sure Digital revenue opportunities are maximized and client goals/objectives are included in brainstorming discussions.

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE

Digital knowledge of local digital reputation management
Social media marketing and management for small business
Knowledge of how to buy digital ads for local businesses
Local SEO knowledge and brand marketing experience
Knowledge of importance of local directory listings and how to get them
Demonstrated history of campaign success using digital as a primary vehicle
Proven success in Sales, Leadership and Team Building
Digital media sales or product experience required
Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop or other graphics program.
A proven track-record of meeting and exceeding sales goals.
Bachelors Degree desired or equivalent work experience

ASSISTANT ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description:

Salem Media Group in Washington, DC is seeking a full-time Assistant Engineer for its 5-station cluster to perform the following tasks:

Assist Chief Engineer in monitoring the overall technical operation of the stations to ensure compliance with FCC, Federal, EPA, OSHA, State, and local regulations 
• Assist with the installation, maintenance and legal operation of all audio, electronic and broadcast transmitting equipment necessary for the stations to function 
• Assist with facility upkeep and repairs in all station studios and at transmitter sites.
• Instruct and assist operators in the proper operation of the station’s broadcast equipment, FCC procedures and requirements, and any computer equipment necessary for the operators to perform their required duties. Help train board operators and programming staff in using computer software, operating systems, and all equipment. 
• Readily demonstrate the ability and willingness to work with department heads to promote the company’s interests and success 
• Responsible to follow all Salem policies & procedures 
• Reports directly to the Chief Engineer
• Assist with remote broadcasts and personal appearances where electronic equipment is involved.

High power AM/FM transmitter and RF experience, including HD Radio.

SBE certification 
Knowledge of programming automation systems is preferred

Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Salem Media Group in Washington, DC is looking for a Full-Time Operations Manager for its cluster of radio stations in Arlington, Virginia.  This individual will oversee the on-air programming operations for this market, reporting to the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight in the execution of an excellent on-air sound and imaging for the stations, with a goal of growing audience engagement and response for our clients.
Ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations and Salem Media Group policies.  
Be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling of programming personnel.
Work with other department heads to create and fine-tune interaction between the programming team members and other departments of the radio station.
Oversee Production needs including the production of commercials, promos, station imaging/Legal IDs and voice tracking.
Manage automated systems for peak performance.
Coordinate audio streaming processes including web and app-based systems.
Work with sales staff for on-air and promotional execution of sales promotions.
Work with programming clients on the production of their programs.
Coordinate with station Promotions Director to maximize digital assets including websites, social media presence, Alexa, and other technologies. 
Work closely with department heads to create an efficient and productive operation with a positive environment: Engineering, Traffic, Sales, Promotions, HR, and Administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills, Qualifications and Characteristics:

Proficiency in digital audio editing and production
Experience with Axia soundboards and software.
Ability to solve problems with creativity.
Knowledge of advertising sales and desire to serve the Sales Department needs, including Production, spec ads, writing spots, and working with clients.
Experience working with the Evangelical and Conservative culture, leaders and listening audience.
A positive and energetic style, with high integrity, strong work ethic, and ownership of outcomes.
A strong radio announcer voice is a plus.
Ability to respond to and resolve urgent issues when challenges arise 24/7…Overnights, Evenings, Early Morning and Weekends.
