Accounts Receivable Clerk

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WLOS, in Asheville, NC, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk. This role will be responsible for assisting staff with, posting payments, and tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues. This includes being responsible for tracking and resolving outstanding payment issues. This position will be an integral part of the credit hub and will provide assistance with accounts receivable functions for multiple television stations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Prepare and maintain various A/R reports

·        Maintain up-to-date records in system

·        Work closely with Collectors by monitoring unapplied/unidentified cash

·        Reconciliation of accounts

·        Carry out A/R activities according to specific procedures and deadlines

·        Investigate and resolve customer queries as needed

·        Communicate with internal personnel via phone, email, mail or personally

·        Perform other related duties as required and assigned

·        Post client payments by recording cash, checks, and credit 

REQUIREMENTS:

Requirements:

·        Must be proficient with MS Excel

·        Knowledge of general accounting principles

·        Broadcasting or media experience is preferred

·        Experience with a broadcast traffic system such as OSI or Wide Orbit a plus

·        Ideal candidate will be able to prioritize and multitask, have a high level of attention to detail, and have excellent communication (both written and over the phone) skills

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the FOX Owned and Operated duopoly television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Photojournalist with an eye to shoot, edit and gather sound from newsworthy events, locations or people for use in newscasts.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties: Shoots and edits breaking stories, live shots and other news stories as assigned. Occasionally writes packages and/or assembles natural sound packages. Gathers news in the field independently. Assist in gathering and posting stories on-line and to air. Must have the ability to visually tell compelling stories. Operates video camera and audio equipment creatively in diverse conditions and at times under extreme deadlines. Assists Operations department with studio camera and floor management.  Operates all live technology (i.e. Live U, KA trucks, etc.). Drives and operates company vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.  This includes driving in heavy metropolitan traffic, at night and in bad weather. Edits videotape for playback for air. Operates microwave trucks. Maintains vehicle and news gathering equipment properly. Assist with newscasts outside the normal work schedule at time of severe weather conditions or breaking news. Meets all scheduling and broadcast deadlines. Must be involved in Social Media. Responsible for any and all equipment issued by FOX. Supports Local News Service as assigned. Has ability to work a flexible schedule. Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines related activities. Some in-studio camera duties required. REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on journalism and/or Communication preferred. Minimum of two years’ equivalent experience.  Knowledge of non-linear editing systems. Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the FOX owned and operated television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a quick-thinking Associate Producer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the daily organization and writing of newscasts as assigned by Producers and/or Executive Producers.  Write copy that is fair, accurate and grammatically correct. View video tape and select appropriate pictures and interviews for broadcast as approved by news management.  Ability to recognize story inadequacies or missing information.  Work independently to find the necessary information to complete the story and give feedback to Producers if more resources are required to support the story using all available means (i.e. telephone, databases, computer archive searches, etc.) Work with field crews to manage stories, provide graphics, video and logistical support. Work closely with assignment desk to coordinate live shots and Reporter & Photojournalist assignments.  Maintain open communication with News director and all station personnel to efficiently, respectfully and professionally complete news assignments.  This includes monitoring the wire service to ascertain relevant stories for inclusion in newscasts. Attend and participate in editorial meetings. Provide suggestions for news related stories and participate in post-production critiques.  Constantly move throughout the station to coordinate work requirements and news related activities.  Occasionally bends, stoops and crouches.  Constantly operates PC, using a keyboard, to complete required news items and related materials. Sits for extended periods of time in order to accomplish essential duties. Complies with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines.  Perform other duties and special projects as needed and assigned by news management.  

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors’ degree in applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism, communications, or equivalent job experience is preferred.  One year of experience producing or newsgathering for broadcast at a commercial television station preferred.
