Production Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the Fox O & O Duopoly in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a part-time Production Technician  who will report to the Production & Operations Manager.  The ideal candidate musth have a thorough understanding and knowledge of broadcast television production.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties for the part-time Production Technician include floor directing, studio camera operation, studio lighting board operation, guest and talent management and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Additional required skills include but are not limited to: stage management, proper placement of microphones on news anchors and guests, ability to handle unexpected and last minute changes and ability to effectively communicate those changes to prompty to studio talen while adjusting floor configurations and shot requests. The Production Technician must possess the ability to work primptly under pressure in a cohesive team environment, have clear verbal skills and be reliable and with a great attitude.

Audio Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the FOX O & O duopoly in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an Audio Technician to report to the Production & Operations Manager. The Audio Technician will operate the audio board during live newscasts and other productions; properly mix various sources including anchor mics, audio from live remotes, animated openings and video clips.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding and knowledge of broadcast television production, including but not limited to: studio camera operation, floor direction and maintenance of the studio (i.e. sets and props, periodic cleaning, etc.). Maintain wireless mic and IFB packs, ensuring fresh batteries before each show.  Responsible for monitoring crews that are dialing in on IFB lines and obtaining mic checks from talent before each live shot. Must be able to route the proper mix-minus audio sub-mix to each IFB line, ability to put live callers on air and skill to help troubleshoot audio issues with input from the engineering department.

REQUIREMENTS:

The best candidate must be capable of working under pressure in a cohesive team environment. Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and alternate schedules.

Minimum of one-years experience in a news production position.  High school degree or equivalent is required.

Newscast Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the Fox O & O duopoly in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Newscast Director who reports to the Production & Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience as a combined director/technical director with a hands-on understanding or the Sony 7000, 3M/E switcher or similar systems.

 

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of Chyron ISQ, Mosaic, Powerclyps, BitCentral and Avid iNews is also preferred. Skills in Master Control is a plus.

Candidates must be able to handle fast-paced and quick changing newscasts, breaking news and weather events.  These newscasts have a broad range of segments which can include: in-studio guests, entertainment groups, multiple live shots, anchor movement throughout the studio, combined animations and heavy use of graphics. Knowledge of master control operations, automation and program segmentation. Other duties will include audio mixing, floor direction, studio camera operation with new responsibilities assigned as operational needs warrant.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Two years’ or more experience directing/manually technical directing, live and pre-produced television newscasts required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WJZY-TV, the Fox O & O duopoly in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Topical Producer to join our Creative Services Team.   This position reports to the VP of Creative Services. If you have a passion for local news promotion and thrive on quick deadlines, creative tease writing, shooting and editing – this positon is for you. There’s opportunity to push your creative boundaries while making a difference in a very competitive television market.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Topical Producer partners with in-house producers, artists and vendors to create, develop and produce the on-air promos for WJZY/WMYT-TV. This may include writing, producing, videotaping, recording or photographing news topical promos, radio ads, custom syndicated show and block promos, VO tags, digital art, custom music, jingles, on-hold messages and radio production.

Writes/produces/edits (and occasionally shoots) special events and contest promos. Produces elements for use on web and all social media platforms. Operates or has a working knowledge of digital cameras and Adobe Premier nonlinear editing. Works effectively and courteously with all other departments such as traffic, operations, production, news and sales. Must maintain collaborative working relationships wand maintain contacts with Fox Broadcasting and Syndicated Distributors for changes, directives, specials and all necessary promotional elements. Work closely with the news department to determine promotional priorities and creative decisions of individual news program promotion.  Uses a PC with keyboard and other related station systems to perform essential functions of the job such as writing, using the internet to upload and download from ftp sites. Requires fine motor skills. Constantly uses verbal, audible and visual abilities to perform essential functions. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Regularly receives and distributes information and instruction, via telephone, e-mail and memo, to station personnel and clients. REQUIREMENTS:
