Meteorologist / Reporter

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Description:  Produce and anchor compelling weather forecasts.  You will also have daily news reporting responsibilities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ABC FOX Montana, a Cowles Media broadcast group based in Great Falls, Montana is looking for an experienced meteorologist to spearhead our weather effort on-air and on-line. A degree in meteorology, 2 to 5 years as a broadcast meteorologist, and experience with Weather Central is preferred.  Reciting numbers from the National Weather Service isn’t the plan!  If your goal is producing the very best weathercast in the market, you can tell a compelling weather story every day using the latest weather tools and information, and you take pride in your accuracy, you’re exactly who we’re looking for. The Chief Meteorologist delivers weather forecasts for our primary evening newscasts covering central Montana. We want someone who is not only comfortable with the challenge of forecasting widely varied Montana weather, but can also handle reporting duties (this will include both shooting and editing as needed). Community involvement is also important to usThe successful candidate will also know how to deliver the latest forecasts to our other media platforms. You must be a motivated, self-starter who relates well to co-workers and our viewers. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:  Undergraduate Degree in Meteorology and 2-5 years as Broadcast Meteorologist preferred.  Writing skills and PC competent. Experience using Weather Central 3D Live. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. equipment. Must be a team player.  Must be a deadline-oriented team player.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Description:  ABC FOX Montana is seeking an Assistant News Director/Anchor to join the region’s most dynamic news team in Southwest Montana. The right person will help produce compelling Bozeman/Butte specific content for on-air and digital platforms. Assist Southwest Montana reporters with breaking news coverage and content pertaining to the daily newscasts. Oversee the Southwest Montana stations as assistant to News Director.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Must have extensive, solid journalistic background
  • Must be proficient in the interpretation of live news coverage (ad-libbing)
  • College degree or equivalent
  • Ability to exercised editorial control over content to be consistent with station’s values
  • Solid news judgment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge and desire to participate in social media
  • Ability to create non-article content – e.g. tweets, video clips, databases – for online
  • Effectively supervise news staff daily including schedules, workflow and equipment
  • Manage personnel issues and hold people accountable
  • Implement overall News Director’s vision
  • Newsroom experience a must
  • Familiar with AP style
  • Ability to shoot, edit and produce segments for digital and on-air platforms – including digital copy

News Reporter

ABC FOX Montana is hiring a full-time News Reporter for our Western Montana regional newscast. This position will be based in beautiful Western Montana in our Missoula or Kalispell stations. We are looking for a creative storyteller with solid shooting & editing skills. A successful candidate must be motivated, ambitious, and hardworking. Shoot/write/edit news stories for television broadcast, web, and social media. Community appearances and other duties as assigned.
