Overall Responsibilities

  • Expertise in RF installation, repair and operation including terrestrial or electronic news gathering microwave, high power television transmitters as well a C-Band and Ku-Band satellite transmission, reception and operation.
  • Familiarity with fiber installation and operations as implemented in IP or in video use.
  • Expertise with IT systems and IT network administration, implementation as well as management of IT solutions for a multi-site organization including file-based content, back-up systems, website and databases.
  • Expertise in encoding and transferring multimedia files.
    • Facility (building) management expertise with specific experience with complex power management systems, emergency generator and heat ventilation and cooling a must.

Newscast Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WDSU-TV has an opening for an experienced and dynamic Newscast Director/Technical Director. The Newscast/Technical Director is responsible for communicating and executing all technical aspects of live production, with all technical staff, including the Producer, Audio Operator, Studio, and Engineering. Positive pro-active attitude and schedule flexibility are necessary for this position. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Responsibilities:

·         Directing broadcast newscasts.

·         Punch/Switch the show via the Studio Production Switcher

·         Provide creative input and will work closely with the newscast producer and production crew.

·         Be responsible for clean technical execution of the overall look of the newscast.

·         Must be able to call and punch a newscast.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

·         MOS and basic computer network understanding.

·         Understanding of newsroom systems ENPS and video playback systems.

·         Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker, using technical know-how to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news.

·         The position requires shift flexibility. Shift may include early mornings and weekend duties.

·         Newscast Director will also be required to post to website as well. 

 

Education:                                        

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field preferred.

·         Related military training from Defense Information School (DINFOS) and related experience will be considered.

 

Experience

·         4 years directing and technical directing fast-paced newscasts

·         Must also have experience with production switchers, video servers, and audio and studio equipment.

·         Equivalent military experience will be considered.

Newscast Director/Audio Operator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

KATC TV3 has an immediate Full Time opening for a Newscast Director/Audio Operator.  Ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years newscast production experience. Job description includes: directing our half hour weekday and or weekend news shows, filling in during our two and a half hour morning show, along with doing required news cut-ins and running studio audio for our nightly newscasts. It may also include studio floor duties and operating camera for all KATC broadcast and posting content to our website at KATC.com and other social media platforms. Including any additional duties as needed by Operations Manager and or Production Supervisor. Strong leadership qualities are a must for this position.

 College degree preferred but not required.

Candidate must be a self starter who is able to work well with others in a fast pace environment and be able to communicate effectively.  Candidate must be able to complete task quickly and accurately. Mornings, weekends, and holiday shifts are sometimes required.

Must be able to meet company vehicle operation requirements.

Candidates will be subject to a background check and drug screen.
