WVUB Traffic Specialist

Part Time Support Staff

SUMMARY

The WVUB Traffic Specialist has an eye for detail and a passion for broadcast media as they work on developing daily traffic logs, generate billing and reconciling underwriting accounts

 

This is a part-time support staff position with a weekly schedule of 25 hours. Those hours are to be spread out within a work week of Monday through Friday, and within a work day of 8am-4:30pm.

This position reports to the WVUB General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Creates daily logs for WVUB in Natural Log

·         Inserts orders for WVUB

·         Generates billing invoices & statements on all accounts monthly (on the first Monday after the 4th Sunday)

·         Responsible for receiving payments and depositing those payments at the Bursar’s Office

·         Arranges delivery method for weekly Blazer prize pack certificates to winners

·         Creates all certificates for prize packs, unless supplied by client

·         Generate affidavits on all requested accounts and arranges notarization of affidavits (done at the same time as monthly billing)

·         Responsible for documentation of all Co-Op scripts

·         Prepares commission reports for WVUB’s contracted sales representative

·         Updates avail sheet as needed and email to Programming Director, General Manager and contracted sales representative

·         Responsible for tracking all documentations on trade/donation agreements.

·         Update Copy ID# as needed

·         Responsible for monthly reports to VU accounting, including billing report, AR, Deposits & Spreadsheet

·         Responsible for all make up spots if WVUB is off-air for a period of time

·         Tracks all monthly special event sponsorship, including client and total order amount

·         Reconciles Bursar’s monthly statement to match all deposits

 

REQUIREMENTS:

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

·         Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Broadcasting or related field

·         Excellent bookkeeping, writing and speaking skills

Weekend Anchor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WXIN/WTTV, a Tribune Broadcasting station, has an opening for a Weekend Anchor/Reporter to work in our Indianapolis location.

The Weekend Anchor/Reporter will be an experienced journalist who can handle major news, breaking news and is a proven leader with editorial content and viewers.   This person must be assertive in the newsroom and work cohesively with management and crew staff.  This position will contribute to the content gathering of information for WXIN/WTTV, the station websites and social media.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Anchor regularly scheduled newscasts for weekend newscast
  • Responsible for providing on-air news both in studio and live in the field
  • Evaluate news leads and pitch unique stories that will get results and drive ratings; participate in the editorial process
  • Cover breaking news with a sense of urgency
  • Establish and maintain relationships/sources in the community
  • Participate in station community and promotional events
  • Produce content for Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years Anchor/Reporter experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling and promotable stories
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

JOB DESCRIPTION:

WXIN/WTTV, a Tribune Broadcasting station, has an opening for an Assignment Editor to work in our Indianapolis location.

The Assignment Editor will work with everyone in the News department to assign and cover news of the day.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor scanners and field assignment desk phone calls
  • Receive and investigate news tips; Gather and prepare story items for the newscast
  • Assist and sometimes create the digital reporting on respective web pages and social media accounts
  • Support newscast Producers
  • Manage logistics and assign field crews to cover stories
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency with breaking news
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Account Executive is responsible for the development of new & digital business for WXIN and WTTV. This role will work aggressively to develop action plans that will add value and enhance profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain direct relationships with agencies and clients while driving advertising revenue to achieve target goals
  • Responsible for building new relationships through lead generation, cold calling, research and networking assigned territory to secure new accounts
  • Understand and interpret business objectives and advertising strategies of clients in order to help them achieve those objectives through effective use of media
  • Prepare, schedule and deliver sales presentations

The Digital Content Producer will primarily focus on originating, supporting and maintaining a dynamic station website that will grow WXIN/WTTV’s digital audience while increasing engagement with viewers.
