News Producer - Univision HUB

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Entravision has an opening for a News Producer. The News Producer is responsible for development and organization of the local Spanish-language newscasts including writing, story development and showcasing and will be responsible for overseeing the live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions.  Candidate will work closely with the News Managers, Assignment Editors and Associate Producers to determine content needs.

Qualified candidates will be key in enhancing content of the rundown with graphics, video, research and station branding. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to; being able to write clearly for multiple platforms, posting content to stations websites, and being able to edit video for multiple platforms and understanding and utilization of web analytics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and must have a passion for great visual storytelling, should be excellent at writing a tease and should be able to write clearly for Television broadcasts. Candidate should be an energetic, experienced journalist who works well in an often fast paced, deadline oriented environment. Strong written, organization, communication and writing skills are a must as is a keen editorial judgment and ability to handle breaking news. Candidates must have knowledge of and demonstrate creative skills, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws. Should have experience with posting news content to station web sites. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task in a dynamic, high pressure, deadline and content driven and technology-intensive environment. Must have solid social media experience and be well connected. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the internet. Candidate MUST be able to read, write and speak Spanish fluently. Must be able to work Holidays as needed and the necessary hours to perform the duties as outlined above.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Candidates should also must have 3 or more years experience in a Producer role within a true newsroom, non-college station. Live shot experience a must.  Demonstrated experience as an Associate Producer preferred.  Familiarity with I-news is a plus.

POSITION PURPOSE: Produce a show that discuss the issues of the day, relate-able and compelling news, and matters important to family and community. Responsible for the overall sound of the show, including bump music, drops and any other effects that contribute to the product.
Ability to run the board and screen calls during the program.
Active Knowledge of current local/national sports news events to be able to add to radio segments.
Active Knowledge of pop culture.  Assist with keeping the show updated on the latest trends in pop culture.
Be the eyes and ears of the show.  Listen often and report both positives and negatives to the Executive Producer and Program Director. 
Work closely with the web department to develop story ideas, blog ideas, picture and video ideas, and help create unique online content while coordinating between the department and Talk Show.
Connect and collaborate with the hosts on a daily basis to consistently meet their vision and expectations of their on-air product.
Assist on-air host(s) in producing daily promotional spots.
Assist in writing and developing creative imaging that is consistent with the overall brand message.
Assist in day-to-day station responsibilities that could include, but are not limited to, production and editing audio clips.

Candidate should have strong written and verbal communications, a high level of organization and time management skills with attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Bilingual English/Spanish a must. Prior administrative/sales assistance experience preferred especially in the area of sales or broadcasting. Good knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic culture a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Modifying audio from various sources
  • Editing On Air Host LIVEs
  • Producing spots in V-Creative
  • Focused operation of on-air console

  • Monitor and maintain an accurate on-air sound, notify engineering/programming on problems, insure commercials, on-air imaging and production elements run properly on the air

  • Report equipment problems, update discrepancy reports to communicate any occurrence that departs from program log or quality goals

  • Two years news/talk/sports radio control room work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
