 What We Need You To Do:

Work with Product, Marketing, and Design to define and implement A/B and multivariate tests.
Design and implement growth and retention experiments, from generating ideas to analysis of experiment results.
Utilize statistical analysis to drive user retention.
Ensure tests get up and running and be willing and able to help product and marketing teams interpret results and present them to management without bias.
 What we look for:

Innate interest in learning about customer behavior, using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Great with data and analysis tools.
Create and implement algorithms in relevant statistical inference, graph, and network analysis, natural language processing with open source tools and libraries.
Design and support efficient storage and retrieval of Big Data.
Develop highly accurate machine learning models to help improve in-product experiences and drive business growth.
Excellent Python, R, or Scala skills.
Able to think strategically and tackle open-ended problems.
Willing to learn what you dont already know.
 Bonus points for:

Experience in product management, user acquisition marketing or similar fields.
Deep understanding of SEO/SEM, social and viral mechanics.
Aid in productionizing projects including, but not limited to, developing API endpoints, creating datasets and associated visualizations, deploying AWS Lambdas, and creating scheduled Airflow jobs.
Experience with data pipelines, warehousing and reporting systems.
Bachelors Degree. (Preferred Masters Degree or above in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Math, or similar quantitative field) or equivalent work experience.

Technical Operator - Part-Time Weekends

Maine Public is seeking a part-time Technical Operator to join the Technology and Media Services team in Bangor, Maine. Primarily working on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm, the Technical Operator is responsible for monitoring Master Control operations while analyzing and controlling television and radio technical operations. Duties include operating and monitoring television and radio equipment and transmitters, maintaining and reviewing logs and database records, operating electronic test equipment, and monitoring television programming for closed captioning, descriptive video, etc. The Technical Operator collaborates with our Audience Services department to troubleshoot technical inquiries and respond to the public by phone and email regarding technical, broadcast, operations, transmission, and programming questions and concerns.  Some outdoor work in all weather is required to monitor facilities and maintain satellite dishes and other external equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Local Area Network (LAN): responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering the station’s Local Area Network (LAN) environment. This includes implementation, configuration, planning, management, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and usage monitoring of the LAN environment within the station. Working knowledge of TCP/IP addressing scheme. Documents and understands the stations network topology, remote access, and VPN. Configuring of Cisco switches and good knowledge of internet protocols, switching and routing.

·         Computers: responsible for configuring, installing, managing, maintaining, updating, and integrating the computers within the station to insure compatibility and integration with enterprise standards and software applications. This includes purchasing computers and maintaining an updated inventory of model, make, year, and other relevant information.

·         Telephone System/VOIP: responsible for maintaining, operating, documenting, and administering all aspects of the telephone systems including wire and cable facilities, telephone system equipment, peripheral equipment, voicemail systems.

·         Server/Systems Administration: responsible for maintaining, administering, and monitoring network operating systems and servers in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment, including Organizational Unit and Group Policy Object awareness. Adds and configures printers. Responsible for managing and maintaining backups in accordance with company standards. VMWare: knowledge of servers, configuration, troubleshooting and deployment.

·         Desktop Operating Systems and End-User Software: knowledge and familiarity with current operating system platforms. Familiarity with Office 365, cloud and desktop. Be able to install and configure applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other television specific applications. Be able to properly configure the network properties to communication via TCP/IP and station networks.

·         Mobile Devices: knowledge and familiarity with cell phones, tablets, and other mobile devices; particularly Apple iOS devices. Be able to configure devices for email, app purchases, lost device recovery, passcodes, mobile VPN, and other relevant settings and use-cases.

·         Understand Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. Be able to upgrade the OS on these devices.

 

Knowledge of television engineering fields, including broadcast IT systems and their integrations a plus. This includes news productions systems, master control automation, satellite automation, studio systems, news aggregation systems, etc.

 

Candidates should have exceptional interpersonal skills and be proficient verbal and written communicators. Able to ascertain problems, evaluate options, and execute solutions in a timely and orderly fashion. Establish standard operating procedures, outlining/defining technical quality desired. Be available “on-call” for technical issues during odd hours (nights/weekends) and work cooperatively with staff engineers/technicians and other department managers. Candidates should also be comfortable on ladders, able to lift 40-80 lbs., and be able to perform other physical tasks related to equipment/infrastructure installation.
