Alert Center Reporter/MMJ


KSLA News 12, the most-watched news station in Shreveport, La., is looking for an Alert Center Reporter/MMJ to join our National Edward R. Murrow Award Winning team. Applicant should have outstanding live reporting and breaking news skills, superior editorial judgment, and steadfast journalistic integrity. We want a passionate candidate who is aggressive and able to think on their feet in breaking news situations. Candidate should also be able to develop a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and allow the reporter to break stories.


Strong communications skills are a must as candidate should be able to coordinate with producers and anchors before and during newscasts. Applicant should also be able to navigate all forms of social media to alert viewers about breaking news stories throughout the day. Candidate should also be familiar with public records requests and able to provide deep background for breaking investigative stories. This position will also be the primary back-up anchor for our evening newscasts. Candidate should also have exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure.


At least 2 years of reporting, shooting and editing experience is preferred. Previous anchoring experience is a plus. College journalism degree or equivalent is required.
