Perform as a local Radio host producer and writer for local live radio broadcast on NPRs Morning Edition. Broadcast material includes but not limited to news, weather, time, forward promotion and underwriting credits.
Research and develop story ideas, conduct interviews, record sound, write, edit, voice and produce radio news reports both short form and feature length. Covers spot news and is involved with emergency broadcasts both in the studio and on-site. This position will, as directed, host public affairs programs and special news coverage.
Monitors phones, e-mail, AP Wire, SCEMD, appropriate apps, internet and other social media, etc. for any and all information pertaining but not limited to South Carolina Public Radio in the case of an emergency situation. During times of non-emergency must keep up with current news situations. Develops relationships with and follows leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other statewide sources.
Responsible for keeping track of all productions you produce in a manner that is accessible and kept up to date at all times. All pertinent information is listed but not limited to the productions including date produced, topic and length. Provide material to post on social media pertaining to South Carolina Public Radio and may be called upon to post material.
A bachelors degree in Radio/Television Film, Communications, and Journalism or a related field and at least (2) years of experience reporting and producing field reports and newscasts for radio which includes meeting strict deadlines; producing field reports and producing/hosting newscasts or equivalent combination of education, training and production.
A high school diploma and experience or additional education in production of radio and/or television programs.
