IT Administrator


KHON2, the Fox and CW affiliate in Honolulu, is looking for a motivated, detail oriented, and organized person to fill our IT Administrator position. We offer a great work environment, excellent benefits, unique projects and a positive team atmosphere.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Local Area Network (LAN): responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering the station’s Local Area Network (LAN) environment. This includes implementation, configuration, planning, management, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and usage monitoring of the LAN environment within the station. Working knowledge of TCP/IP addressing scheme. Documents and understands the stations network topology, remote access, and VPN. Configuring of Cisco switches and good knowledge of internet protocols, switching and routing.

·         Computers: responsible for configuring, installing, managing, maintaining, updating, and integrating the computers within the station to insure compatibility and integration with enterprise standards and software applications. This includes purchasing computers and maintaining an updated inventory of model, make, year, and other relevant information.

·         Telephone System/VOIP: responsible for maintaining, operating, documenting, and administering all aspects of the telephone systems including wire and cable facilities, telephone system equipment, peripheral equipment, voicemail systems.

·         Server/Systems Administration: responsible for maintaining, administering, and monitoring network operating systems and servers in a Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment, including Organizational Unit and Group Policy Object awareness. Adds and configures printers. Responsible for managing and maintaining backups in accordance with company standards. VMWare: knowledge of servers, configuration, troubleshooting and deployment.

·         Desktop Operating Systems and End-User Software: knowledge and familiarity with current operating system platforms. Familiarity with Office 365, cloud and desktop. Be able to install and configure applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other television specific applications. Be able to properly configure the network properties to communication via TCP/IP and station networks.

·         Mobile Devices: knowledge and familiarity with cell phones, tablets, and other mobile devices; particularly Apple iOS devices. Be able to configure devices for email, app purchases, lost device recovery, passcodes, mobile VPN, and other relevant settings and use-cases.

·         Understand Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. Be able to upgrade the OS on these devices.


Knowledge of television engineering fields, including broadcast IT systems and their integrations a plus. This includes news productions systems, master control automation, satellite automation, studio systems, news aggregation systems, etc.


Candidates should have exceptional interpersonal skills and be proficient verbal and written communicators. Able to ascertain problems, evaluate options, and execute solutions in a timely and orderly fashion. Establish standard operating procedures, outlining/defining technical quality desired. Be available “on-call” for technical issues during odd hours (nights/weekends) and work cooperatively with staff engineers/technicians and other department managers. Candidates should also be comfortable on ladders, able to lift 40-80 lbs., and be able to perform other physical tasks related to equipment/infrastructure installation.
