Salary $55,000 - $80,000 DOE.
Alaska Public Media (AKPM) seeks a Television IT (IT) Broadcast Engineer. The IT Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the installation, proper operation and maintenance of a wide array of state-of-the-art computer based systems used for modern day television and radio broadcasting. The IT Broadcast Engineer is also responsible for the administrative IT infrastructure for Alaska Public Media and must be experienced with baseband digital video and audio, real time and current non-real time digital video/audio compression technology, television broadcast automation, television traffic systems and digital television broadcast delivery.
AKPM is the source for NPR radio and PBS television for South Central Alaska and stewards a statewide news service.
The Television IT/Broadcast Engineer will:
Demonstrate a high level understanding of TV/FM broadcast technology, including video and audio interfaces and video/audio over IP for broadcast and digital distribution.
Perform the setup, configuration and maintenance of software and hardware based broadcast equipment.
Provide technical assistance to broadcast operations when required.
Implement equipment installation and maintain documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Five years’ experience working in a TV/FM broadcast/IT field.
University Degree or accredited Technology Diploma in Communications Technology and/or Information Technology
Possess good mechanical aptitude.
Be self-motivated with the ability complete tasks with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
Ability to use and understand broadcast diagnostic test ad monitoring equipment.
