Broadcast/RF Transmission Manager


Maine Public is seeking a full-time Transmission Manager to join our Technology team. In support of Maine Public’s radio, television, and digital programming and content, the Transmission Manager is responsible for the maintenance, design, and operation of assigned broadcast facilities and is responsible for the technical quality of broadcast signals. Additionally, the Transmission Manager is responsible for the technical planning, operation, and maintenance of all RF electronic equipment and ensures compliance with industry and FCC technical standards, rules, and regulations.  The Transmission Manager reports to the Chief Technology Officer, and collaborates in developing and managing budgets and Capital Improvement Requests. The Transmission Manager will supervise all three technical personnel in multiple locations statewide and is responsible for their work schedules and performance.



Job Requirements: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent RF work experience required. FCC General Class License or SBE Certification preferred. Proficiency in the use of spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and test equipment used in testing and monitoring of digital video, digital audio and FM signals required. Three years’ experience in broadcasting industry required. Experience in supervision, budget development and administration desirable. The ability to travel to remote sites via snowmobiles, ATV or walking required. A high level of skills in computer operation required. The successful candidate must enjoy working outdoors and must work well both in a team environment and independently.
