SC Educational Television Commission is looking for a Director if IT.

Under limited supervision, directs, coordinates and administers SCETVs Information Technology (IT) Department to ensure the smooth operation of the computer systems for both the broadcast engineering network and the administration and operational systems. Provides technical support and assures system integrity and availability of the information stored on the computers to authorized personnel. Responsibilities include influencing and directing the agencys IT infrastructure and applications evolution to ensure key business strategies and processes are driven by systems that enable change, growth and flexibility.
Leads, develops and implements IT initiatives that enable SCETV to compete more vigorously and more profitably in a constantly changing and demanding marketplace. Translates the company vision into IT systems and procedures, articulating this critical link to the company stakeholders including the Executive Team, IT staff and employees. Manages, motivates, and develops all staff within the IT group. Ensures the organizational structure is appropriate for supporting SCETVs current and future business needs. Recruits appropriate talent. Be viewed as a critical voice among the station, driving cross-functional collaboration through the IT team. Participates actively with the management team to ensure our systems environment addresses the needs of the business.
Leads and coordinates development of our infrastructure to ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by systems that enable growth and flexibility. Develops plans and budgets in light of internal work needs and operating units approved projects. Oversees analysis and evaluation of staffing requirements to fulfill business requirements including directing the evaluation of make vs. buy decisions as they relate to outsourcing vs. in-house provisioning and identifying and developing strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers, licenses and contracts, vendors and consultant organizations. Translates business needs into system solutions making maximum use of available tools while ensuring longer term supportability of the architecture.
Ensures availability of necessary application systems to support business and operation needs. Develops IT policies and procedures on a basis for ensuring consistency in standards and leveraging of common systems. Establishes and measures IT performance relative to cost, value creation and customer satisfaction in the key areas of operating systems, telecommunications, network management and desktop support. Leads and coordinates selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of our information technology infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, networks, telecommunications, hardware, and peripherals). Optimizes our return on our IT investment by acquiring cost-justified IT components, as measured by performance, support availability, price, upgradeability, and future industry trends. Protects the agency and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, data integrity problems, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels by setting policies and procedures. Cooperates with operating units in conceptualizing, developing, and launching technology based products and services.
MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelors degree in communications, business administration, computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics; management information science or a related field and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelors degree on a year-for-year basis.
A bachelors degree in computer science and eight years of experience in computer system development, modification or maintenance; or any equivalent training and experience.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of data processing systems, hardware and software. Considerable knowledge of the following desirable: Linux, UNIX, Windows O/S, MAC O/S, TCP/IP, networking infrastructure and protocols, Cisco CLI, and detailed understanding of system integration.Ability to ensure ETVs IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, cost efficient, and strategically sound, reflecting business needs and best practice in creating value for the company.
