Maine Public is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer to join our Technology/IT team in Portland, Maine. The Systems Engineer will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate communications and computer equipment. Primary responsibilities will include skilled design and maintenance of Maine Public’s technical systems and their connectivity. The role of Systems Engineer will require a hands-on approach to work independently and provide support for other technical personnel throughout the system. Some networking and/or production work will be required. Under the general direction of the Manager of Technology Systems, the Systems Engineer will be based our Portland studio and will travel throughout the state to support technology, such as transmitter sites, in multiple locations. Some evening and weekend work is required as assigned.
Job Requirements: Associates Degree in electronics, computers, networking, technology, or related field. Three years’ experience in a technology-related field with a background and hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and networking is required. Excellent communication skills are required. A valid driver’s license is required. Strong foundation in digital electronics, personal computer operation, networking technology, and application support is preferred. Experience in radio and television broadcasting is desirable, as well as a demonstrated ability to work independently and remain adaptable to change. The successful candidate must thrive in a professional and dynamic environment, work well both in a team environment and independently, and demonstrate dependability and a love of public broadcasting.
