Promotions Manager


Bonneville International has been a leader in broadcasting for over 50 years, with a mission to build up, connect, inform and celebrate communities and families across our markets. POSTION PURPOSE: We need a dynamic promotions leader to help build and engage audience and client loyalty for the stations as well as the individual shows by planning, implementing and assisting in the coordination of all promotional activities as they relate to product and sales fulfillment both for on-air and website properties.  Be an effective team member and assist in assuring the Promotions Department makes its full contribution to achieve established goals and objectives.  Help conceptualize, develop and execute results-oriented platforms for promotions designed to: (a) increase audience ratings and market share; (b) add revenue (c) enhance the image and reputation of the Bonneville Denver radio group in the community or (d) grow station databases. Manage day-to-day details supporting Programming vision, strategy and client expectations. Lead a staff of Promotion Coordinators and part-time team members.



Coordination of major Promotions from inception to completion by working closely with and communicating with Sales Managers, Digital Producer and Program Directors to include scheduling and coordinating execution of on air contesting and on the street marketing. 
May be directly responsible for day-to-day-promotions for one of our radio stations.
Manage the promotion budget and expenses. Work monthly to track expenses and adhere to expense guidelines. Acquire bids and pre-approval on all major expenses.
Hire and manage staff in all facets of the job including training on how to execute promotions and events; and create a system of accountability.
Manage and maintain inventory of prizes and other giveaways; and document all prizes and contesting through company software systems. 
Secure promotional partners for station and client events.
Coordinate and attend weekly Promotions and Sales meetings as necessary.
Organize and attend client meetings with sellers and sales managers as needed to plan events and event logistics. Work closely with sales account executives to coordinate all details of high dollar client programs.
Collaborates with multiple departments to create and execute promotions such as remotes, events, concerts, van hits and other street team activities from start to finish.
Manage all stations promotional calendars to include all station activities.
Responsible for Community Relations and ensuring the proper outside image of all Bonneville Denver stations, i.e. appearance of promotion staff, signage, and station presence displayed to the maximum potential with the resources available.
Develop, create, and brainstorm promotions with sales department to ensure that Bonneville Denver maintains and increases share of business.  Manage on-air sales promotions and announcements.
Recap sales and station promotions within 5 days of completion with proof of performance documentation. 
Protect the company through strict adherence to signed agreements of all station promotions and events, serving as Legal Liaison to insure that all corporate legal requirements are met. Adherence to all FCC rules as well as Bonneville regulations regarding contesting to include writing all rules for all contests.



Skilled in the following areas:

Creative Writing
Promotions and marketing campaigns, or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience with digital platforms including social media, text messaging and database marketing required.
Computers (with working knowledge of prize system software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Photoshop).
Ability to learn new technologies and remain on the forefront of digital innovation as it pertains to the broadcast industry.
Experience leading and managing a team; proven problem-solving and prioritizing skills.
Experience in developing and managing a departmental budget.
Experience with web content creation and maintenance as well as social media management.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Creative experience in successfully building and executing sales promotions is required.
Experience working with non-profit, entertainment and sports organizations.
Proven ability to initiate and work independently, if necessary, and operate effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
Excellent organization of detail & project completion required.
Possess an understanding of target audiences lifestyle and interests.
Experience with event management, including logistical coordination, and execution.
Project appropriate company image with respect to dress and demeanor and work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, listeners, vendors and clients.
Take a proactive role in supporting Bonnevilles policy to prevent harassment of any kind within the workplace, at off-site places of company business and at company-sponsored social venues.
Assure that employees working in your department will receive annual performance appraisals. Guarantee that employees will sign Conflict of Interest and Payola forms annually.
Ability to organize, analyze and interpret statistical data and draw conclusions from finding and follow-through.
Ability to work with moderate supervision, confidential information and be a self-starter.
Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments.
A high level of proficiency with computers, software and new technologies.
Highly familiar with the benefits and shortcomings of all types of media including, but not limited to "heritage" media as well as all types of current and emerging social and digital media.
Maintain a valid drivers license and proven ability to safely drive personal vehicle without exposing company to serious liability risks.
Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Ideal candidate will have:

Promotions/marketing background with a minimum of three years in the field of radio or related field.
4 year college degree
Proven sales experience and public relations
Basic HTML knowledge


Exertion up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently; constantly moving objects.
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
