WiFi Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SC ETV is seeking a WiFi Manager.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages ETVs EBS Educational Services, including the distribution and implementation of the cellular.  Provides Wi-Fi devices and training for ETV online educational resources services and available mobile devices through ETVs EBS spectrum  lease contract.  Ensures that the state and ETV are compliant with EBS contractual agreements and FCC regulations. Assists States early learning and afterschool institutions facilitate children learning and staff professional development.

Analyzes Pre K and afterschool learning and broadband environments and seeks solutions ETV can provide that enhance facilities goals and objectives.  Analyzes the characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and their use in an instructional environment.  Adapts wireless internet access policies for Pre K and afterschool students and staff.  Determines technical assistance and/or monitoring of participating programs to ensure compliance with state, federal and agency policies, laws and regulations.  Seeks funding opportunities to support ETVs Wi-fi initiative.  Identifies and prepares assessments and formative reporting to support initiative.

Selects and uses a variety of instructional content and strategies for Pre K and afterschool learning facilities, chooses appropriate Internet deliverables, instructional content, implementation process, and marketing.  Develops workshops and training about Wi-Fi technologies and applicable content knowledge for facility and staff.  Evaluates and assesses Pre K and afterschool learning site resources, and the impact on learning.  Develops educational grants and administers grants received.

Manages ETVs EBS (Education Broadband Services) and Pre K Educational Services.  Responsible for setting up device security and restrictions, including limiting unwanted applications based on the services of the facilities.  Scales network access according to the number of available Wi-Fi devices.  Monitors and evaluates user education experiences.  Analyzes classroom and curriculum problem.  Assures applicable Wi-Fi institutions are properly vetted.  Oversees collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among Pre-K and Afterschool Institutions.  Compiles and analyzes statistical usage data, and inventory of devices. Attends and gives presentations at various state education and institutional conferences and meetings.

Participates in all applicable management and station meetings.  Contributes to required state and federal reporting.

REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree and 5+ years experience in early education or afterschool environments.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Must possess experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in management, networking, engagement, and outreach with Pre K and afterschool institutions and their inherent missions. Understand available basic wireless broadband services and mobile devices, especially Wi-Fi hotspots and web security. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to education systems including Childrens Internet Protection Act (CIPA), South Carolina and FCC (Education Broadband Services) EBS education regulations. Knowledge of basic principles and theories, trends and development of early education. Ability to analyze classroom and curriculum problems and recommend technology solutions. Experience in preparing and presenting at meeting and conferences.
