Digital News and Content Producer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Maine Public is seeking a full-time Digital News & Content Producer to join our team in creating and distributing content for mainepublic.org and our news, mobile, digital, and social media platforms. The successful candidate will be independent, self-reliant, adept at multi-tasking, and a problem solver by nature. The ability to react to, create, produce, and post breaking news stories is a core requirement; the ability to work independently during night and weekend shifts is essential.

This is currently a 2-year designated funds position, working out of Maine Public’s Lewiston office. Maine Public offers a competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement, paid time off, dental, vision, and other supplemental benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Producer creates, writes, produces and edits text for television and radio broadcasts, including specifically writing news headlines and news summaries during a variety of daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The Producer will attend and cover news events, shoot video, and produce audio spots for Maine Public Radio and all Maine Public content platforms. Collaborating with the Digital team, the Producer will create, report, and update multimedia news and materials to ensure that fresh content flows into the site. Content materials may include articles, photos, polls, infographics, and audio/visual and interactive content. Additionally, the Producer will focus on the end-user experience and is expected to review site usage and analysis regularly and use those metrics to improve audience engagement and size. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a multi-media content provider/journalist is required. Hands-on experience creating web content and strategies, particularly for any public broadcasting entity, is required. Flexible hours and the ability work nights and weekends is required. Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. Familiarity with CSS, Illustrator, Photoshop, HTML, and JavaScript is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.
