Maine Public is seeking a full-time radio broadcast Producer to research, coordinate, and execute production of Morning Edition with local anchor Irwin Gratz. The Producer will be responsible for researching stories and issues, recommending program ideas, suggesting host interviews, scheduling guests for the program, writing and editing news and promotional copy, connecting with the Maine Public audience via social media, and posting related content to the Maine Public website. The position requires frequent contact with the public as well as strong ability to collaborate on deadlines and contribute to a strong team environment. Occasional substitute hosting for Morning Edition and other news programs, as assigned. Under the general direction of the News and Public Affairs Director, the Morning Edition Producer will work out of the Portland studio Monday – Friday. The work day will generally begin at 5:30 am, flexibility is required.

Bachelor’s degree or one year of relevant work experience in radio, digital media and/or television operations and production required. Strong writing and research skills required. Demonstrated ability to work well under own initiative with little supervision as well as in a collaborative setting required. A broad knowledge of Maine issues and public affairs essential. Able to work calmly under pressure on tight deadlines. Experience in hosting Morning Edition a plus. A valid driver’s license is required.
