Edward R. Murrow Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY/WMYT-TV, the FOX O&O in Charlotte, NC (Market #22) is seeking a Research & Programming Director. Critical features of this job are described below.
Research Essential Functions:
Analyze and evaluate all audience measurement systems and all ratings data for internal & external use.
Conduct, analyze and interpret special Nielsen studies. Interpret findings for other departments.
Maintain all research systems (TVScan, Qualitap, Nielsen, Sorenson, Comscore. Maintain Nielsen station information and remain current with Nielsen related issues. Create Qualitative profiles and positioning pieces for Sales, News and Programming. Create rating estimates for Sales master planners and avails system. Create promotional material for the Sales Department (ratings one sheets, sports packages, positioning pieces, etc. Maintain Nielsen station information and remain current with Nielsen related issues. Prepare rating book breakouts. Represent the Station in a manner consistent with the business standards and policies of the Company.
Programming Essential Functions:
Evaluate new and current programming. Provide analysis of program acquisitions (estimate rational, lead-in and lead-out share, key demo trending.) Prepare and distribute program orders and communicate network, syndicated and local program format information. Perform program episode scheduling through the Wide Orbit system, or similar system, coordinate house number system, communicate relevant information to impacted departments, and prepare monthly usage reports. Maintain program contract information in the Wide Orbit system under supervision of the Regional VP of Finance. Review paid programs to ensure compliance with FTS policy. Maintain paid programming library, coordinate paid program scheduling with Sales, Traffic and Production. Maintain Public File including letters and email from the public, as well as quarterly issues reports and annual home office reports, i.e., return reports. Perform weekly review of children’s programming for FCC compliance. Assist in communication of operational procedures for live even programming. Ensure that Station FCC online file is current and up to date working with TVHO Corporate Attorney. Coordinate with Master Control satellite feed information and iTX program purges.
4-year degree (B.A) preferred. Minimum 2 years’ related sales experience required. Work schedule is Monday-Friday.
