Edward R Murrow Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY/WMYT the FOX O&O serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking an Engineering Manager who will directly lead the day to day repair and maintenance of WJZY on-air product, equipment, studio production systems, transmitter, building maintenance, at all Charlotte FOX sites by performing duties as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly leads and manages the day to day engineering team to maintain the stations highest quality of distributed broadcast signals. Must lead, manage, initiate improvements with the highest standards of excellence. Supervise the engineering employees to build a team that excels with every assignment and provide management oversight to create and maintain the highest levels of engineering quality control processes. Responsible for all the day to day engineering projects, tasks, and assignments, including multiple reports. Responsible for all FCC regulatory compliance as Chief Operator, including the Chief Operator FCC log. Must meet all assigned deadlines. Schedule resources to meet department projects/tasks. Follow the day to day policies and procedures for Purchase Order workflow. Responsible for Engineering IT related equipment and network assignments. The ideal candidate will implement and maintain the highest level of quality control and minimal downtime of equipment. Must meet all Electrical Safety, Tower safety, and OSHA regulator for health and safety of employees. Assist VP Engineering/Operations with strategies, project development, procurement, and implementations of 3-year capital planning. Assists VP Engineering/Operation during scheduled and non-scheduled hours. Ability to work non-schedule hours during breaking news or whenever an operational need arises for maintaining the highest quality of signals distributed by the station. Other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Regularly stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to climb ladders and perform roof work inspections.
EDUCATION: College degree or broadcast equivalent knowledge and experience required. Minimum 3 years’ equivalent experience
