South Carolina ETV (SCETV), a dynamic and innovative multi-media statewide network serving the state of South Carolina, is seeking a President and CEO of SCETV and SC Public Radio. SCETV has a rich history of providing educational content and services. Its vision is to be recognized “as a center of excellence for our region and the nation, providing indispensable information and education to the communities we serve.” The network, with TV/Radio headquarters/production facilities in Columbia and four regional stations, utilizes 11 local television transmitters to broadcast one high-definition and two standard-definition channels at each location, and eight radio transmitters that broadcast two separate streams of national and regional classical and news programming. The network also delivers content through the internet and emerging technologies. In addition to broadcasting, services include education, emergency communications, and transparency—e.g., coverage of state government.
The President reports to a commission, appointed by the Governor, and is charged with creatively and efficiently delivering content and services to the citizens of South Carolina, schools and agencies. The ideal candidate will be experienced in broadcast management and have a record of success in challenging budget environments. Candidates must show a history of accomplishments in fundraising and other revenue enhancement activities and a commitment to using public media to enhance the educational, cultural and economic life of South Carolinians. A track record of working effectively and successfully with legislative, governmental, or private sector groups is critical to success in this position.
