ETV is looking for a Vice President of Engineering and Technology. This job is Monday- Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a state salary range of $71,982.00 - $133,179.00 Annually. This is a Full Time Position.
SCETV, a dynamic and innovative multi-media statewide network serving the state of South Carolina, is seeking a Vice President of Engineering and Technology. This network, a full PBS and NPR member, consists of 11 TV transmitters and 8 radio transmitters serving the entire state. This position has responsibility to lead all aspects of the Engineering Department. Plans, develops, and oversees maintenance of technical infrastructure, which includes 600 towers statewide. Oversees engineering and technology resources, including broadcasts facilities, transmitters, towers, network technical services, emergency communications backbone, satellite operations and related Internet Protocols.
Oversees Studio, Broadcast, and Transmission Operations, Towers, Educational Technology Services and related Internet Protocols, Capital needs, Emergency service backbone, and Special Projects.
Hires, trains, schedules and evaluates performance of staff in carrying out the functions of the Engineering Division.
Administers the Engineering Division budget. Develops priority list for equipment purchases and works closely with the CFO on procurement.
Represents ETV at community related functions, including fundraising events. Oversees SCETV relationships to foster emergency communications backbone and related training and support services.
Identifies and negotiates with wireless and telecommunications representatives on rental of South Carolina and ETV Tower space. Works closely with the Director of Administration to ensure contract management and billing processes.
Participates in ETV strategy and policy planning. Develops meaningful and quantifiable measures of performance for the Engineering Division.
MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelors degree and relevant program management experience.
A bachelors degree in Engineering and ten (10) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, in technical and business management, such as design and construction of television and radio transmitting facilities, satellite earth terminals. microwave transmission systems, fiber optic systems and the architecture of computer and computer network systems.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of technical systems. Ability to review and negotiate contracts and manage relationships with other state agencies, technology companies and other service providers. Understanding of the need for security administration for operating systems and software. Knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles. Effective management skills and ability to develop and monitor meaningful and quantifiable measures of performance for the division.
