KQTH Morning Host


Scripps Medias 104.1 KQTH, Tucsons News and Talk Station, has an immediate opening for a Morning Host.

Position Summary:

Host a live issues-driven talk radio show from 6-10AM weekdays. Inform, entertain and engage audience via prepared content pertinent to the target demographic. Speak or read from scripted materials, such as news reports or commercial copy, identify station, interview guests, make public appearances, and help drive the ratings of the station.


Key Activities

Responsible for creating and hosting an on-air shift and attracting listening to the station.
Keep daily program logs on all elements aired during broadcast, such as segment topics and station promotions.
Select program content, in conjunction with producers and assistants, based on factors such as program specialties, audience tastes, or responses from the public.
Study background information in order to prepare for programs or interviews.
Comment on current events and other local information, such as weather or traffic conditions.
Maintain a consistent profile on digital platforms including, but not limited to the station website, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
Identify and book guests to appear on the show.
Interview show guests about their lives, their work, or topics of current interest.
Discuss various topics over the telephone with listeners.
Identify the station and introduce or close shows, using memorized or read scripts, and/or ad-libs.
Record commercials for later broadcast.
Host civic, charitable, or promotional events
Make promotional appearances at public or private events on behalf of the radio station.
Execute and assist with games, contests, or other on-air competitions, performing such duties as asking questions and awarding prizes.



Bachelors degree in radio broadcasting or related field.

2-5 years as an on-air performer preferred.
Experience with digital production programs and equipment
Skills & Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
Good voice quality that includes clear enunciation.
Ability to present your perspectives and insights in an entertaining and creative way.
Ability to connect with the audience.
Strong problem solving abilities.
High work ethic.
Ability to meet deadlines and detail orientation.
Operate studio equipment.
General knowledge of radio station operation.
Computer proficiency.
Knowledge of the radio sales process.
Understanding of FCC rules and regulations
Knowledge of social media platforms
Proficient in basic production skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Web proficient
An energetic, engaging personality
Valid drivers license, driving record in compliance with station policy, and proof of insurability (liability limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident/$50,000 property as defined by station policy).
