KSL TV Technical Director (#5079)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Who we are: Bonneville International has been a leader in broadcasting for over 50 years, with a mission to build up, connect, inform and celebrate communities and families across our markets. We currently own and operate 14 radio stations in Seattle, Phoenix, Denver and Salt Lake City, along with the NBC Affiliate TV station, KSL TV 5, in Salt Lake. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical direct newscasts with minimal on-air mistakes.
Complete pre-production for newscasts utilizing equipment in news control.
Technical direct other projects and shows as assigned.
Work on special projects as assigned.
Fill in as a director.
Assist in operating and coordinating the production operation control room equipment.
Work with News Division staff to:Coordinate and achieve clear, interesting and accurate on-air news presentations.
Coordinate control room, playback, and studio in pre-production, post-production and live presentation of news, sports, and other activities as assigned or scheduled
Design and execute a graphic look for all newscasts and related productions, e.g. teases and topicals.
  Assist in maintaining an effort to keep up with state-of-the-art equipment and employs the most professional techniques in presenting work
Use available equipment to best meet production needs of News Division.
Assist in maintaining a clean and uncluttered control room.
Other duties as assigned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

        Two (2) years post high school education pertaining to the operation of technical equipment or related, or equivalent.
        One year of experience in mixing audio for live newscasts.
        Self-starter, capable of performing under stress, particularly when unanticipated problems or unscheduled assignments arise.
        Proven record of demonstrating accuracy, follow-through while under moderate supervision.  Follow instructions and solve varied problems by having a thorough knowledge of companys operation procedures.
        Capable of performing under stress, particularly when unanticipated problems or unscheduled assignments arise as errors may incur financial loss.
        Consistently work hours required.  Work more when required to meet deadlines including rotating days/nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, etc.  Schedules will be arranged according to the needs of the Company.  Willing to work additional hours as needed.  Should be dependable on a full-time schedule.
        Occasionally fill in as a newscast director.
        Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
        Work effectively in a team environment. 
        Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, BUT NOT REQUIRED:

        A working knowledge of ROSS Vision switcher and control room automation systems (Overdrive, Ignite etc), Chyron Graphics system, Ross video server, Bitcentral video server, Calrec audio board, ENPS.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

        Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
        Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
        Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
        Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
