Program Manager (WNPR 89.1 MHz FM)

The Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network (CPBN) Education Department seeks an innovative and strategic manager to administer and manage all private vocational training and verteran-related services for its Institute for Advanced Media. The Program Manager for the Institute for Advanced Media (IAM) and Veterans Vocational Training Program is responsible for program development, student mentoring, recruitment/retention, data management for grant deliverable, and support fundraising. The Program Manager must work to actively promote a safe, structured, pro-learning environment and possess a working knowledge of digital media to collaborate across multiple communication platforms.


  • Provide leadership and overall program management which includes: development and implementation of annual strategic goals for the IAM and the Veterans Vocational Training Program, achieving budgetd fundraising goals, overseeing curriculum development, securing employment placements, and building external partners
  • Assists in the planning, organizing and supervision of the day-to-day operations of CPBN's Learning Lab
  • The Program Manager acts as the liaison within the veteran's community on regional and national issues
  • Creates proposals and assists in funding veterans' initiatives while working collaboratively with all other departments within the network
  • Oversees monthly budget reports; assuring funds are spent in accordance with contracts; manages grant fulfillment activities; insures that CPBN is in compliance with all contracts
  • Develops and manages marketing and recruitment materials, including publications, applications, on-air and web messaging, presentations and tours
  • Provides full support to the management team and assists with the strategic planning process and community outreach
  • Follows labor market trends to identify high-growth industries and job placement opportunities
  • Oversees the Veterans Training Internship Program (at CPBN and other employment sites)
  • Directors program evaluation activities and determines project evaluation metrics
  • Assists in organizing professional development opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors' degree preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in education, training, broadcasting and/or program development and administration
  • Experience in developing and implementing start-up programs with expertise in curriculum development, project design, and process improvement
  • Honorably Discharged Veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States or strong military experience preferred
  • Experience in fund development with the ability to maintain accurate documentation to support funding reports, grants and guidelines
  • Robust project management skills, including experience managing cross-functional projects in a distributed enviroment
  • Excellent communications and writing skills required
  • Demonstrate experience using educational technology as a training tool and strong knowledge of new media technologies; Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
  • Knowledge of professional development strategies and best practices

TRAVEL: 10-15% state-wide travel for outreach and recruitment

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 1:00-9:00pm and Fridays 9:00am-5:00pm. Attendance at occasional morning meetings may be required
