General Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Manages and coordinates the activities of the radio station. Develops and administers overall policies for the station. Designs the operating budget for the station and monitors station expenses. Is the primary representative to the general public, university, Michigan Broadcasting Association, MPRN and NPR. Initiates collaborations with professional, university and community organizations. Reports on and manages foundation grants. Serves as key contact with major donors, Assumes key role in station fund drives, fundraising projects and activities. Assumes leadership role in the Strategic Plan and the planning process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS:
Eight years’ experience in not-for-profit management. At least five years’ experience in public radio. Experience in working as part of and with community leadership. Working knowledge of a university environment. Excellent written, digital communication skills and speaking skills. On-air experience. Grant writing and fundraising experience. Familiarity with FCC and CPB regulations and requirements. Supervisory experience. Leadership experience. Proven commitment to or involvement in the arts and culture. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
