Area of Responsibility: The Human Resources Director is responsible for all planning, development and allocation of human resources in the Company. The Director directs all recruitment, onboarding, training, development, allocation and disciplinary activities necessary for the Company to thrive in a competitive media business environment. The Director stays abreast of human resource policies, practices and trends within the broadcast industry and provides human resource leadership and counsel to Company management, seeking actively to assist management to reach Company short- and long-term strategic plans and goals. The Director also assures Company compliance with all Federal, state and local human resources laws and regulations, including those promulgated by the FCC and EEOC. We currently own and operate radio stations in the Denver, Seattle, and Phoenix Markets as well as TV and radio with our Corporate Headquarters in Salt Lake City. Reports to: Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Bonneville International Corporation


Essential Skills and Functions:

  • Minimum of 10 years of HR management experience - 5 at the director level.
  • Ability to work with Company management as a partner/peer in directing Company human resources.
  • Ability to translate Company business plans and goals into HR strategic and operational plans.
  • Ability to evaluate and advise Company management on the impact of Company plans, programs and/or government regulatory programs and actions on its employees, specifically on attracting, motivating and retaining employees.
  • Ability to develop staffing strategies and plans to identify and develop promotable talent within the Company and to identify appropriate and effective external sources of potential employees at all levels.
  • Ability to develop programs to allow the Company to attract and develop applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to enhance performance of all Company employees.
  • Ability to develop human resource planning models to identify gaps in competence and knowledge and develop specific programs to close those gaps, specifically including
    1. succession planning for key contributor and management positions;
    2. training and development of employees for increased responsibilities at every level; and
    3. and general business development programs to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the business of the Company.
  • Ability to continually assess the competitiveness of all Company programs and practices, in light of broadcast and other relevant industry standards and best practices and to recommend changes to management where advisable.
  • Ability to engender trust and confidence from both Company management and employees by being an effective listener, problem solver and resource for accurate and actionable human resource information.
  • Ability to develop appropriate policies and programs for employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, continuing education and career development.
  • Familiarity with Company HR systems, including information systems and databases, and the ability to generate necessary reports for critical analyses of the Company HR function and Company human resources.
  • Ability to manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department.
  • Continually monitor changes and maintain an up-to-date understanding of governmental employment/EEO laws and Company benefits, policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:

  • Effectively receive, process and maintain information through oral and/or written communication.
  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Lift, move and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
