Raven Radio, KCAW-FM, is looking for a General Manager. KCAW is a member station of CoastAlaska, a regional consortium of stations serving Southeast Alaska. Salary range starts at $51,510 DOE. The Raven Radio Foundation operates KCAW, a 3 KW, CPB qualified public/community radio station located in Sitka, an isolated community of 8,600 on Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska. KCAW is locally oriented with an emphasis on community involvement. The station has approximately 70 active volunteers. The Foundation also operates translator radio stations in Angoon, Yakutat, Kake, Pelican, Port Alexander, Tenakee Springs and Elfin Cove. The listening area has a population of more than 11,000 people. The programming schedule includes NPR, APM, BBC and Alaska Public Radio Network news and public affairs programs, and a wealth of locally produced volunteer music, arts and public affairs shows. Raven Radio has a respected local news department. Sitka is in the heart of the country’s largest national forest. Surrounded by mountains and water, residents enjoy a mild rainforest climate, thriving fishing, and visitor industries, lively local politics and a remarkable arts community. Outdoors recreational opportunities abound. KCAW is a member station of CoastAlaska, a regional consortium of stations serving Southeast Alaska.
The manager provides leadership to a five person professional staff and a large volunteer staff, in all aspects of community media.
The successful candidate will have a strong management background and leadership skills, including proven success in administration, financial management, planning, fundraising, community and industry relations, programming and personnel supervision. In addition, we seek applicants with a background in broadcasting, a commitment to the values and standards of community media and knowledge of the public radio system.
