Chief Engineer (Job Number 21916BR)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Chief Engineer is a management position responsible for the functional operation of KDEN`s Technology Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide all required technical support for the production of Live, Local Newscast
  • Oversee the daily operations and project integration including repairs & maintenance of studio, production, field, and IT systems
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Director of Technology on capital planning, long-term strategies and projects
  • Interface daily with internal NBCUniversal and Comcast technology teams
  • Work closely with vendors and internal sourcing to establishing relationships that will foster new opportunities, solutions and cost savings
  • Develop, implement and document training programs and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain system documentation and Plant Schematic Drawings
  • Heavy participation with the companies Environmental Health and Safety programs
  • On Call 24/7 for emergency problem resolution

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years production and broadcast engineering experience.
  • Previous Newsroom Technology and Operations experience
  • Must be able to drive for the company on a daily basis
  • Must have knowledge or be willing to learn maintenance of Television Transmitters
  • Must have schedule flexibility, including being onsite to support the early evening and late night newscasts daily, and availability for emergency support anytime

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver`s license
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Desired

  • Bilingual preferred English/Spanish
  • Experience with iNews, Ross Acuity and Overdrive, Grass Valley Stratus, Chyron, Edius, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Comark Paragon, etc.
  • IT experience including Windows and Mac based editing systems
  • Environmental Health and Safety experience and training
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects
  • Ingenuity to solve critical problems and obtain results under pressure and time constraints
  • Lead a diverse groups of individuals with interpersonal skills
