Assistant Engineer

NPG of Yuma-El Centro Assistant Engineers will work under the Chief Engineer in handling operational emergencies as needed and assist in technical and electrical projects. They will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of equipment (routing switchers, editing systems, broadcast IT systems transmitter, microwave links etc.) as directed by the Chief Engineer. They will be responsible for building maintenance including ordering and organizing supplies as well as controlling inventory. They will be responsible for all station vehicles including maintaining thorough and accurate records of all vehicle maintenance and submit monthly reports to corporate. They will trouble shoot and maintain control room equipment and station computer network. Assist in maintaining compliance with FCC and FAA rules.


Candidates must possess a high schools diploma and at least two years of technical electronics school or equivalent. They must have experience in electronic and mechanical repair and have good trouble shooting and problem solving skills. They must be competent in the use of electronic test equipment and hand tools. They must have a strong background in quality control and computer skills including proficiency in Pc’s LAN/WAN, IP switchers, IP network wiring and configuration, Windows related software and networks. They must also be proficient in Windows and MS Office products. The ability to work constructively under pressure and handle numerous time sensitive issues on a daily basis is imperative for success. They must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays and be on call if needed. They must be able to lift 50 lbs, stoop, crouch, or work on ladders up to 20 feet in height and on high rooftops. They must possess a valid driver’s license
