KSL Radio Talk Show Producer (Part-Time)

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Produce the Nightside Project in an entertaining and informative way. Innovate new concepts for presentation and content ideas. Strive to maintain #1 rank. Hours approximately 4:00 – 9:00 PM Monday-Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work in tandem with show hosts to produce a compelling talk show and provide guidance and feedback to enhance the program's on-air presentation. 2. Evaluate current stories each day and offer suggestions on how those events might be presented on the air in a way that is fresh and compelling. 3. Find audio and ideas for additional show elements that improve production value. 4. Help arrange franchise segments for the show. 5. Board operate as necessary when Nightside is on a remote broadcast. 6. Brainstorm performance ideas with show hosts. 7. Collaborate with KSL Executive Talk Show Producer to execute ideas and follow-up on delegated tasks. 8. Screen talk show callers in a courteous and engaging manner. Set up phone calls for talk shows. 9. Cultivate high-value calls from listeners with personal experience or knowledge. 10. Lead social media efforts through strategic use of video, social media sites, and emerging sources. 11. Provide hosts with accurate information and support to report on breaking news. 12. Work cooperatively with news and program managers of other DMC properties. 13. Continually create new approaches to station's talk programming. 14. Maintain confidentiality by not discussing internal KSL matters, company strategies, client's proprietary information, personnel matters, wage and salary information or any sensitive information with clients, competitors, listeners, the media or inappropriately with co-workers, and by not distributing our proprietary research or other information to our competitors. 15. Seek ways to manage stress effectively. 16. Consistently work hours required including weekends, holidays, evenings. 17. Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures. 18. Work effectively in team environment, maintaining a positive and cooperative rapport. 19. Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in one-on-one interaction and staff meetings. 20. Attend evaluation sessions and staff meetings as needed. 21. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Two (2) years post high school education in communication, journalism, related field or equivalent. One (1) year commercial broadcast journalism experience or equivalent. Willing to accept responsibility and work under moderate supervision while resolving varied problems, which require general knowledge of company's policies and procedures. Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and assure that shift personnel receive material for broadcast on time as the services performed affect company image, clients and the listening audience. Errors may incur financial or time loss. Be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments. Proven ability to handle stress. Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures. Work effectively in a team environment. Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients. Consistently works hours required. Works more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc. Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively. Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination. Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
