News Host / Reporter

Colorado Public Radio is looking for an experienced professional to join our growing operation as a news host/reporter primarily for the afternoon. This position plays a vital role in providing listeners with the latest news in a credible but conversational manner.

The host produces and voices on-air elements during an assigned shift, including newscasts, feature story leads and tags, weather forecasts, promos and segues.

Outside of on-air hosting, this position regularly reports and produces newscast stories as well as in-depth reports such as features and two-way interviews. Live and recorded fundraising also is part of this role.

Colorado is a state that is exploring some big ideas - legalized pot, fossil fuels versus renewables, urban vs. rural values, immigration, development vs. natural resources, the role of government in a purple state. It’s also teeming with a diverse arts and culture scene. All this in a newly expanded newsroom with mountain views, set in an awe-inspiring place to live.

Education & Experience Requirements
At least three years of experience in an on-air broadcast news role is required. Public radio news hosting experience and on-air fundraising experience are preferred. Essential skills include strong news judgment and news writing and editing, a warm, credible, conversational delivery, effective communication skills, a passion for news, storytelling and public affairs and an ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
