IT Support Tech

KUNM FM Radio at UNM is looking for an assistant to the System Administrator to help maintain a complex network of 50 workstations and a half dozen servers. There is a mix of common software (Microsoft Office), less common software (Adobe CS6 and Audition) and proprietary radio based software supporting the station operations. Servers include Windows 2003-2012 environment, in both real and virtual implementations. MAC severs include Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6 server) and Mavericks Server environments. Workstations are primarily Macintosh, with scattered mix of WIN7 (both real and virtual) and OSX Mavericks operating systems.

Duties will include routine support (upgrades and connectivity issues) as well as occasional new hardware installation. Hours will include 3-4 hours a day, 3-5 days a week, on a consistent schedule.

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

A directly related higher degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for up to two years of experience.

Experience and understanding of complex mixed network installations

Ability to creatively troubleshoot unexpected problems, and a strong curiosity in learning how these pieces interact

Compliance with security issues and with UNM IT resources is very important

Patience and good nature with a mix of people at the station is of utmost importance

A solid technical background and inquisitive nature will be preferred over multiple certifications

Candidate must be able to transition easily from minor problems to urgent time-based broadcast requirements in a calm and confident manner
