One of the nation’s largest and most cutting-edge public media companies is seeking a dynamic and versatile On-Air Host/ Production Assistant to join our team and embark upon a career in production. This position serves the programming department as an on-air host and production assistant representing the station’s overall sound, while supporting both radio and TV.
TYPICAL DUTIES: On-air, 2-4 hours in the evenings, Monday-Friday. The normal schedule is 2pm to 8 pm. Select music and keep playlist up to date. Prepare for and be an effective pledge rapper during on-air pledge drives. Schedule and promote information segments in show. Voice over for both radio and television production. Record and produce announcements and features. Create new segments/promotional campaigns/public affairs campaigns for show. Conduct interviews. Schedule performance studio guests. Work with Program Director to schedule substitute hosts for on air shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS: Articulate and able to communicate with a strong on-air presence, prefer outstanding speaking and oratory ability. Knowledge of jazz music and history. Demonstrated creative, independent problem solving skills with initiative to recommend solutions. The best candidate will be dependable, flexible, friendly and have great customer service skills. On0air demeanor should be personable, with a sense of humor. Organized. Takes initiative to work with others and does so under tight timelines. Knowledge of public broadcasting and non-profit organizations a plus. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Understands and supports KUVO’s mission statement. Knowledge of Logitech production control boards and Endo automation equipment. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a host. Experience working a shift that has limited staff resources. Familiar with high quality production standards. Experience with audio software (Garage Band).
