Chief Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
KCEC TV Denver, KGHB / KVSN TV Colorado Springs have an immediate need for an experienced full time Chief Engineer who will be responsible for all day to day engineering functions that pertain to the studio, production, operations and transmission gear. Highly qualified candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Chief Engineer and/or as an Assistant Chief Engineer. Candidates should have an in depth knowledge of RF principles to apply to Harris and Axcera full and low power TV transmitters and FM transmitters. Working knowledge in the areas of TV and Radio studio production, non-linear computer editing, and server based playout systems is a must. Must be proficient with broadcast related test gear. Must have excellent communications and managerial skills, and be an all around team player

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include: Maintenance of studio quality and consistency of on-air signal and ensuring that all broadcast equipment is calibrated to technical specs. Candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot and maintain H.D. router and master control systems, non-linear editing gear, news audio consoles, production related gear for field and studio use which include camera`s, light kits, media storage, cables, etc. In addition, candidate will be familiar with audio and video server playback systems, audio and video production systems. Candidate will also be able to troubleshoot solid state and I.O.T based UHF transmitters and tubed/solid state FM transmitters. Implementation and maintenance of FCC operational requirements, keeping abreast of FCC and other applicable state, county and local laws that relate to operational compliance. Negotiates equipment purchases and technical service contracts, manages equipment and repairs. Candidate will also be responsible in interviewing and training incoming master control operators and will communicate between the different departments in order to solve problems in a timely manner

REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires extensive experience in Broadcast TV Engineering, knowledge of computer communications technology, hardware diagnostics and repair experience. Qualified candidates should also possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and equipment operating instructions in addition to the ability to comprehend and apply principles of mathematics. Ability to handle complex system integration with minimum supervision. Extensive knowledge of HD/digital/analog studio equipment; HD/digital/analog transmission equipment, ENG EFP and remote broadcast equipment is a must. Basic IT knowledge is a plus. Knowledge of FCC regulations and a valid Drivers License with a solid driving record is required.
