Human Resources Director

HR Director (Meredith Arizona) Requisition #: KTVK8049 Department: KTVK Administration Job Summary: Meredith Arizona (KPHO CBS 5 and KTVK 3TV) is seeking a Human Resources Director who will plan, develop, direct and implement station specific HR services in support of business objectives, manage all aspects of the HR function, and serve as a resource for employees and managers. HR responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruitment, hiring, selection, progressive discipline, EEO/FMLA/ADA/Work Comp, performance management, HR metrics, training facilitation and coordination, employee records, station and corporate HR initiatives and union relations. The Human Resources Director actively participates as a member of the leadership team and provides direction and counsel on all HR matters. This is a hands on, detail-oriented position. This position serves the Corporation's need for compliance and the Local Media Group's HR need to optimally conduct that aspect of its business. Primary internal customers are the station VP/General Manager, leadership team, employees and Corporate Legal and HR management. Primary external customers include local businesses, agencies and educational institutions. Essential Job Functions 30% - Staffing - Manage and administer the full process for recruiting, hiring, and selection for station employees. Adhere to FCC EEO guidelines and record-keeping. Administer the new hire orientation process and follow-up. 20% - Development - Promote and deliver full participation in performance management process, including goal setting, appraisals, coaching plans, and retention plans. Manage talent identification and development programs. 20% - HR Solutions - Identify and develop solutions to address specific needs; e.g.: compensation/job re-evaluation, organizational function design, training/OD interventions to increase team effectiveness, and improved communication within and across the location. Participate on project teams with business unit wide impact on HR related systems, tools, and policies. Provide in-the-field view of how the systems will be utilized by key business partners. 20% - Employee Relations - Provide counsel and direction and/or directly manage employee relations matters in concert with the Corporate HR and/or Legal department as necessary. Balance employee advocacy role and consultant role with managers in employee relations matters. 10% - Programs and Initiatives - Drive multiple station and Corporate programs and initiatives, such as Health & Financial Wellness and Healthy Lifestyle programs to meet participation goals ranging from 85% to 100%. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: All must be met to be considered. Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience: Five to seven years of HR Generalist experience required. Two to three years of experience actively managing, reviewing and responding to claims related to EEO, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, HIPAA and Title VII. Solid working knowledge and experience with employment state and federal laws. Past experience working with collective bargaining agreements and union relations highly preferred. Experience applying and responding to questions about Compensation, Payroll and Benefit plans. Experience with training facilitation and coordination. Experience with personnel files, records security and retention, and proper handling of confidential employee information. Fundamentals of HR metrics and performance measurement. Past supervisory experience preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced facilitation skills; strong consulting skills; good project management and organization skills; and strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong negotiation/influence skills; PC proficiency in MS Office applications, and database management. Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities when customer needs change. Ability and desire to take on new and unfamiliar tasks and assignments; must be an effective leader with the ability to create effective change; ability to work on teams as well as independently with good judgment skills and be an effective problem solver with the ability to deliver results in a consultative and collaborative manner.
