Assistant Chief Engineer

ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER. Person will coordinate or perform maintenance of computer and broadcast equipment for television broadcasting stations.

Responsibilities include: Maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program for all equipment. Assisting and advising Chief Engineer in planning for future equipment installation, requirements, and budgetary recommendations. *Establishing procedures to insure that all equipment is operational and secure.*Acting as liaison and support for news department. Performing installation and/or removal, preventative and/or corrective maintenance and/or troubleshooting on almost any electronic device or support electronics whether in-house, installed in an ENG vehicle or at the transmitter sites; including but not limited to: cameras, servers, video and/or audio switching equipment, processing and monitoring equipment, microwave transmitters and receivers, satellite transmitters and receivers, TV transmitters and receivers and computing equipment.* Acting as head of Engineering Department in absence of Chief Engineer. Responding to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment as well as other assigned duties.

Required skills & qualifications include: Technical Degree in electronics or related field; capable of occasionally working overnights and weekends; capable of lifting 50lbs; able to work on ladders and in confined spaces; strong IT skills; strong manual technical skills: equipment disassembly, assembly, component-level troubleshooting, soldering, fabricating; ability to read, comprehend and draw schematics and flow charts; familiarity with typical broad industry practices, policies and procedures; understand all forms of digital routing/transmission of audio/video/RF, computer signals. Some travel is required. SBE certification is a plus, but not required. At least five (5) years experience in TV broadcast engineering is desired.
