Assignment Editor/Web Producer

Serve as web producer and assignment editor. The web producer/assignment editor works as a liaison between field crews and the producers, assigning stories, keeping track of logistical demands, making beat calls, monitoring the scanners and reacting to breaking or spot news. In addition, the web producer/assignment editor will write for and produce for the KGUN9.com web site, and carry out other duties as assigned by managers.
College degree required; Broadcast Journalism or Communications degree preferred.
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong problem solving and decision making abilities; ability to work closely with others under pressure; team-player; must be self motivated and creative; computer proficiency necessary. Must know how to write for and navigate website and social media content.
1 year of experience on an assignment desk and/or writing web news stories in a local television newsroom environment preferred. Entry level candidates will be considered with appropriate educational background.
