News Accounting Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Accounting functions for the news department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare, code and/or review News department invoices and employee expense reports for accuracy and completeness of department and account coding, audit descriptions and receipts, and necessary approvals. Research and resolve any invoice and/or vendor discrepancies. Maintain accurate accounting records. Work closely with the Finance department and Executive News Director to identify and resolve various accounting and financial issues. Assist in managing various department accounting and financial functions including forecasting and budgeting. Prepare department financial information for monthly financial reports. Prepare monthly accruals and reconciliation of expenditures to the budget and forecast. Prepare the monthly forecast per input provided by Newsroom management. Assist in the timely completion and approval of news department timecards to meet payroll deadlines. Collect PTO requests and organize for newsroom supervisor approval. Publish monthly newsroom PTO schedule in a timely manner with approved requests. Assist in scheduling department travel and follow station and company travel policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned

This position will work a 30 hour/week schedule and be eligible for benefits. REQUIREMENTS:
College degree preferred. (2) Two years general accounting/accounts payable experience. Broadcasting experience preferred. PeopleSoft Financials experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Excellent time management, organization, and analytical skills. Ability to meet strong deadlines and work well in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and management. Ability to self manage daily tasks and multi-task efficiently. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
