Design Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Design Director will direct, manage, and actively participate in the overall development and daily execution of the station brand to assure consistency and quality. Will lead and direct the daily execution of all news graphics, brand image graphics, web, print materials, as well as any other station promo materials needed. Collaborates with the creative services team to oversee and manage all graphics projects. Manages and supervises graphic artists. Works as promotion shooter/editor as assigned. Determines priorities and ensures brand consistency across all platforms. Reports to the Creative Services Director.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years experience in television graphic design with emphasis on news and promotion
  • Advanced AfterEffects,Photoshop,Cinema 4d and Illustrator experience
  • Experience using DekoCast for News Graphics and station branding; strong knowledge of design software.
  • Experience with non-linear editing, including Final Cut Pro, Avid, Premier Pro
  • Knowledge of audio and video recording techniques and systems, including lighting, video/DSLR camera operation,A/V signal routing, pro audio, grip, and studio environments.
  • Experience with ENPS or INEWS for newscast graphics
  • Experience in multi platform production and infrastructure design
  • Knowledge of digital imaging pipelines and asset management
  • Familiarity with live studio production and post-production technologies
  • Experience with production of video content for distribution through multiple platforms, including broadcast, video boards, websites, and other digital media.
  • Must demonstrate creative vision and capability to be creative and drive a cohesive visual identity for the station
  • Demonstrated capability to shoot, edit, and develop original graphics for station marketing spots as well as design graphics for major campaigns, spot templates, etc
  • Experience with graphic image package development, up-dating and re-design
  • Live studio graphics experience
  • Ability to manage technical operations
  • Self-starter with ability to initiate and track a variety of projects while delivering high quality projects on deadline
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with others
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities
  • Supervises graphics design staff
  • Budget experience preferred
  • Extremely organized
  • Must have examples of high-end creative
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead a project from start to finish with a variety of team members
Lifts up to 50 lbs occasionally (Camera equipment). May sit or stand for extended periods of time in a confined area. Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to hear clearly. Dexterity with manipulating computer keys and other controls in studio as well as other equipment. Able to drive own vehicle for the purpose of meeting clients and attending events. Requires the ability to think critically, tactically and creatively as well as be able to articulate information in clear, concise manner to others.
