Multi-Media Journalist/Live Truck Operator

WEEK-TV-WHOI-TV in Peoria, Illinois, is looking for a combination General Assignment Reporter/Multi-Media Journalist and Photographer/Live truck operator.

We’re searching for a personable communicator who can report, shoot and edit news and sports stories and be trained to operate our live trucks. Photographer’s responsibilities include shooting and editing news stories, newsgathering, attending news events as a “one-man-band” where questions must be asked and information gathered. Duties also include being trained to operate our live truck and then operating the live truck. Duties also include editing in the field, shooting packages to be delivered by other staff and collaborating with reporters on stories.

If possible, we would like to train this individual to anchor our newscasts and operate our Accu-Weather, weather computer systems, and deliver weathercasts for us.

WEEK/WHOI & WAOE are the NBC, ABC and My TV Network stations together produce nine newscasts each day. We operate in a fully digital plant with the latest ENPS, Edius editing system, Ross Overdrive and Panasonic P2 digital field gear.

Candidates should have 1-2 years of reporting and anchoring experience and be able to cover a variety of assignments. We are looking for a strong writer, someone with sharp news judgment and the ability to work well with others. We’re also looking for someone who is possibly technical in nature and who can trouble shoot photography and live truck equipment in the field.
