Produce and deliver newscasts; Generate and write stories for broadcast and for the Internet; edit stories as assigned; make public appearances/community involvement; front station promotions; develop contacts in the community and become involved in community projects, particularly those sponsored by the station. Report on a variety of topics, shoot news stories and edit videotape. Drive station vehicles, including live trucks, to news scenes. Lift camera and associated equipment, write, videotape and edit news stories in all forms. Other duties as directed by management
College degree in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism or Communication preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and on-air delivery skills, including ability to report live on-air clearly and succinctly. Strong news judgment, knowledge of legal issues for newsgathering, photography, and reporting. Candidate should have high-level writing skills for both broadcast and Internet copy. Excellent presentation and reporting skills, including ability to generate hard news story ideas, conduct interviews, and shoot stand-ups unassisted. Knowledge of journalistic standards as related to the on-air presentation of news; must be able to work well under pressure and with others to develop and execute compelling newscasts; must be self motivated and creative. Must be able to edit videotape or have enough exposure to editing basics to learn this skill quickly. The successful candidate will have experience producing newscasts and knowledge of Assignment Desk responsibilities.
Minimum of two years on-air anchoring or reporting experience preferred. Minimum 1 year producing experience preferred.
