KTUU-TV Morning Show Producer

KTUU, a nationally award-winning station in Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a Morning Show Producer. The Morning Show Producer is responsible for producing informative, creative and compelling newscasts, including: writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters & photographers.   • Prioritize, organize, and produce newscasts following the station brand and goals.
  • Responsible for writing clearly, concisely and very conversationally.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current events, community issues, and extensive list of local contacts.
  • Come to editorial meetings with enterprise story ideas each day.
  • Accurate video editing with an eye for visual elements and graphics that makes stories understandable to the viewer.
  • Developing original story ideas for daily newscasts.
  • Special emphasis on working with reporters on story treatment, and be able to accurately gather information for news stories under pressure.
  • Acts as a leader in facilitating teamwork of staff members working on your specific newscast.
  • Accurately and calmly handle decision-making process, especially in the control room.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational abilities, including working with the News Director, Managing Editor and Executive Producer to ensure story accuracy, and to determine the best presentation of reports.
  • Responsible for creating a unique approach to all digital elements for the news department, including: Facebook page, Twitter, website.
  • Copyedit stories on the Web site, while checking newscast scripts.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Work well with co-workers, especially the News Director.
  • Create "Anchor moments" in newscasts, do break-outs of stories with reporters.
  • Post additional content (stories, links, video, polls, etc.) to the web and/or Facebook daily.


  • Strong initiative and attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately; great grammar.
  • Must be able to work well under sometimes intense pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Capable of working overnight to produce an energetic morning news broadcast.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent interview and conversational writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co-workers, supervisors and viewers.
  • Ability to keep up with national and local news/weather.
  • Ability to enterprise local hard-news stories.
  • Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications and Internet use.
  • Produce newscasts including: stacking, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters & photographers.
  • Edit video and audio on industry-standard equipment.
We`re seeking someone with 1-3 years of local television experience. A college degree is required, preferably in Journalism or a related field. A valid driver`s license, with a good driving background, is also required.
