Video Journalist

The videojournalist is responsible for directing at least one daily newscast, editing video and gathering footage for the newscast.

KDEN is an NBC Telemundo owned-and-operated television station in Aurora, Clorado that airs Spanish-language programming from the Telemundo network.

The videojournalist is responsible for directing at least one daily newscast, editing video and gathering footage for the newscast.


  • Writes and reports news as required.
  • Tapes, edits, and polishes raw footage to produce quality on-air product.
  • Acts as Technical Director for at least one (1) daily 30 minute newscast.
  • Develops and builds on-air graphics as needed.


  • Minimum 2 years directing and editing experience in news.
  • Previous experience working in a newsroom. Applicants should have good news judgment.
  • Experience with technical switching, familiar with multiple playback units.
  • Ability to edit in non-linear and linear platforms.
  • Experience in software programs such as Final Cut-Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier and Edius.
  • Knowledge of ENPS, iNews, Precis, Axis and LMX.
  • Must be Fluent in both Spanish and English – written and verbal.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have very strong non-linear editing skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented and capable of working under very tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to adapt schedule as required, and working after hours and weekends when necessary.
  • Previous experience in producing graphics.
  • References must be provided.

  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program.


  • Degree in Journalism and/or Mass Communication preferred.
