REQUIREMENTS:

KSFR Radio is seeking a News Director to lead the KSFR news department in delivering daily accurate news reports with an emphasis on reports about northern New Mexico.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The director prepares news content for/and anchor the weekday morning news show and place daily lead stories online. The director supervises staff reporters, on-call correspondents, station news volunteers, grant-funded news staff for special coverage and student interns. REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a four-year degree in journalism, or equivalent experience. Minimum three years full-time professional experience in journalism preferred. A plus if experienced in producing content in a multi-platform (radio + web) news environment. Familiarity with public radio news programming standards and values. Successful candidate will possess broad knowledge of local and regional issues. Must have ability to work within a live program environment. Must have experience in broadcast production, news writing and editing. Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills. KOB Eyewitness News 4 in Albuquerque is looking for a qualified Master Control Operator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Coordinates and monitors the video and audio portions of on-air programming.  Maintains station log to ensure the station’s output meets FCC technical requirements.  Set up and cues videotapes and programs on video servers for smooth transitions from program to commercial to station break. PT Floor Crew - AM Schedule

JOB DESCRIPTION:

KOB Eyewitness News 4 is looking for a qualified studio tech for our AM newscasts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will, include, but not limited to: Operating cameras during newscasts and/or live shows.  Maneuvering cameras and following instructions from director.  Prepares studio set to ensure lights and mics are functioning.  Handles teleprompter, assists with audio setup, floor directing, and set construction. General maintenance of studio area for newscasts/local programming and recordings.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of TV camera operation, floor directing, and general lighting.  Prior television production experience helpful.  Must be able to work mornings and weekends. Must have valid driver’s license.  Driving record will be checked.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.  The Company will make reasonable physical accommodations to facilitate the ability to perform essential job functions.  Work involves moving the studio camera with wheels.  Pulls and pivots the camera in the direction required.  Stands to operate studio camera.  May lift and carry heavy equipment.  Work also includes walking between news and production.  May assist with media prep operations.  Studio maintenance to replace lamps, move camera props and use of ladder to reach necessary equipment.

Technical Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

KOB Eyewitness News 4 is looking for a qualified Technical Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Direct and/or technical direct morning and noon news broadcast. Supervision of production staff in audio, floor, tape operations and master control.  Technical directing duties include record and playback of necessary  graphics, operate the Ross Synergy MDX video switcher and other production equipment as needed. Responsible for marking all scripts and directing all crew members in their assigned duties. Other duties include directing,  technical directing, and other assigned duties on special events both live and pre-recorded.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant must have a minimum of two years production experience in a news operation. Strong working knowledge of news procedures, studio camera, floor directing, VTR operations, audio operations and character generation. Knowledge of Ross Synergy MDX Production Switcher  or similar multiple ME-bank switchers is required. Knowledge of Avid DEKO 3000, Avid Airspeed, ENPS, and I-News Command is strongly encouraged as well. Strong leadership ability, and ability to work well under pressure is a must.  Applicant must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record. Driving record will be checked.

The following physical requirements are typical, but all-inclusive: Good hand/eye coordination. Must sit for extended periods of time. Good hearing a must. Will also be required to lift and carry cables and equipment up to 30 lbs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIREMENTS:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Listen to multiple police scanners which cover more than a dozen agencies throughout
    our market—must have great “scanner ears”.
  • Gather and organize press releases, emails, phone calls and viewer tips.  Take initiative and decide which of the above will yield compelling content for newscasts.
  • Assist news management with content gathering and planning.
  • Assist producers, digital editors and reporters with story gathering.
  • Keep track of crews in the field and maintain communication with them.
  • Furnish content and post it to all digital platforms—including but not limited to sending push alerts, Twitter and Facebook posts.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

  • Must have experience listening to police scanners.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of digital platforms, especially social media.  
  • Successful candidate will be required to monitor multiple social media accounts in order to gather content and communicate with news makers.
  • Either have a working knowledge of FTP or an ability to learn how to FTP video to other stations.
  • Familiar with local newsgathering technology and terminology.
