JOB DESCRIPTION:

KOB Eyewitness News 4 is seeking a dynamic and versatile Assignment Editor to join our news team.  WE WIN BREAKING NEWS so the starting point for prospective Assignment Editors is alert, organized and vigilant. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Continuously monitor public safety scanners, fixed cameras, social media and e-mail while answering phones and keeping the newsroom informed of significant events and breaking news.  Spearhead and/or assist in the assignment of reporters and photographers for breaking news and general assignment coverage.  Provide input on story selection and coverage.  Coordinate live and tape feeds from Chopper 4, live trucks and satellite sources.  Gather information for producers.  Monitor external news sources including newspapers, magazines, radio, television and internet.  Maintain story files and update newsroom contact lists.  Write, edit and post content on KOB.com and KOB social media streams. 

REQUIREMENTS:

This is an editorial and operational position so the successful candidate will be a journalist and have knowledge of broadcast news and ENG.  Can you enterprise a story?  Its a must in our newsroom. Our Assignment Editors tap into a network of contacts and conduct regular beat checks, book guests for interviews and perform background and database searches. Intense multitasking and organizational skills are a must as are familiarity with content management systems and social media. This is a writing position too. You must be able to think on your feet and stay calm under pressure. Assignment Editors contribute to KOB.com and all KOB digital platforms.  Are you ready and able to do whatever it takes to break news and win continuing coverage in a competitive marketplace?  If so please apply.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 is seeking a dynamic Producer for our Newsroom! This position is for a news producer in a top 40 competitive news market. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We’re aggressive about breaking news and ensuring we’re not only first but the best source in our market.  Our producers are crucial to our success.  Your responsibilities will include “producing” not just stacking newscasts, writing updates and teases, writing for the web, coordinating news coverage, and helping with special projects.  We want producers who have passion about the day’s news and what they want to see in their newscasts. Successful candidates must be able to guide reporters and other staff members in areas such as putting together story elements and the effective usage of graphics and pre-production.  Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Two years’ experience and a college degree in journalism or related field plus computer skills are required. We’re looking for a producer with excellent news writing skills, solid storytelling ability through the effective use of video and graphics, strong news judgment, good people skills and the ability to thrive as a member of a team.  Our producers must thrive on breaking news, juggling numerous tasks and must be able to create high-quality newscasts under strict daily deadlines. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties required, but not limited to covering area sporting events and presenting them on-air. KOAT-TV has an opening for a Production Assistant. We are looking for an energetic team player who understands the flexible schedule that the broadcast industry requires to join our production crew. This person will be responsible for operating cameras, teleprompter, audio-board, graphics and video equipment; as related to live broadcasts and post-production.  Must have good technical skills, and good communication skills. Responsibilities include floor directing, camera/studio operator, digital editing, assisting the news department, and other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Construction, maintenance, installation and operation of props, cameras, prompters, sets and other production equipment.
  • Lighting and script preparation for newscasts.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Requirements:

KUNM at the University of New Mexico is hiring one full-time Technical Journalist to report for the Public Health New Mexico project.   3. Creates, writes, edits, and prepares broadcast and online content on a range of subject matters relevant to the general direction of the project.

  5. Collaborates with content partners (other radio stations, online and print journalists, data specialists) on joint projects and efforts to broadly disseminate KUNM work.
  6. Keeps abreast of issues and trends within public health, poverty and related fields.
  7. May host long-form live or pre-recorded broadcasts related to public health and poverty topics.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference for in-depth knowledge and experience reporting on Hispanic/Latino and/or Native American cultures, communities and constituencies Preference for high degree of fluency in conversational Spanish Preference for experience with investigative and enterprise journalism Valid drivers license.
