KGWN, CBS Newschannel 5 in Cheyenne Wyoming is seeking a hard working, trust worthy applicant to fill the open position of Production Assistant. Production Assistants are responsible for master control, camera operations during news casts and Audio board operations during news casts.

The production assistant position is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a community along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains home to F.E. Warren Air Force Base, the Capital City and Cheyenne Frontier Days
Master Control responsibilities may include
Monitoring the quality and accuracy of our on-air signals as well as ensuring the transmission meets government regulations and the station’s high standards. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and preparing programming for play out. Perform on-air switching for live events. Operate recording hardware, satellite receivers and computer based systems. Prepare and check material for on-air playback via automation system. Verify all material airing by referencing program logs. Monitor on-air signals for quality control Monitor transmitter and tower lights accurately to meet FCC regulations. Anticipate and troubleshoot issues when they occur. Perform other duties as assigned
Camera operations responsibilities may include:
Assembling, preparing and setting up equipment and the studio prior to newscasts, which may include, monitors, lighting, cables and headsets. Planning shots, and offering advice on the visual impact created by particular shots. Practicing the camera moves required for pre-arranged shots. Studying rundowns. Finding solutions to technical or other practical problems. Being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas. Working quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor; Taking sole responsibility in situations where only one camera operator is involved. Using hand cues to communicate with talent. Repairing and maintaining equipment.
Audio operator’s responsibilities may include
Preparation of the audio board and equipment for shows, as well as maintain the quality of sound throughout the newscast. Audio ops are responsible for checking sound levels on microphones and other audio equipment functionality, including running sound checks, repairing and troubleshooting sound equipment, as well as maintaining the work area for other members of the production staff to ensure safety and productivity. Audio operators help organize cues to perfect the order of execution for effects, music, and other sounds by referencing their show rundowns.
· Minimum High School Diploma
· TV operation experience preferred but not required
· Work well within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
· Possess strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
· Computer literate and technically oriented
· Self-motivated, and a fast learner
· Exhibit a professional attitude at all times and be able to perform in a high-pressure environment
· Able to sit/stand for long periods of time
· Available shift may include overnights, weekends and holidays.
