ABC15 in Phoenix, Arizona is looking for a technical director to technically direct fast paced, complex newscasts and other local programming as well as assist in completion of pre-production for newscasts. Successful candidate will operate a Grass Valley Kalypso video switcher for various broadcast, commercial, promotional programming and community affairs productions in studio and on-location, work closely with news department, directors, producers and promotions to ensure that the desired on-air look is attained and work in all areas of television production. Additional duties may include: directing, operate cameras, video playback, teleprompter, jib, setting up and adjust lighting, construct and dismantle sets.

Able to proficiently function in 2 of the 3 following areas: Able to technically direct on a 3-ME video switcher, direct for broadcast news, operate Chryon Hyper-X, operate audio board for broadcast news. College degree required from an accredited college/university majoring in television production or a related field or related experience. Minimum 3 years of experience as a technical director. Preferred experience with Chryon Hyper-X or VizRT operations for broadcast news, as well as experience as an audio operator and studio camera/prompter operator at a network affiliate news facility. Must be familiar with all aspects of Grass Valley Kalypso video switcher, Hyper-X, and Lyric Pro operations including transforms. I-News experience a plus. Must have good working knowledge of computers. Must be able to handle multiple priorities under extreme time constraints with poise, skill, and a positive attitude.
Flexible work hours required including holidays, weekends, evenings and possible overtime hours. Knowledge of proper composition, grammar and spelling essential to position. Must have excellent communication skills, be a team player and leader. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Equipment: Working knowledge of television station production equipment to include but not limited to: Grass Valley Kalypso Video switcher (or similar switchers), Chryon Hyper-X, Audio boards, studio cameras, teleprompters and studio lighting.
License: Must have a valid Arizona drivers license and provide proof of insurability.
